And
now a bit of a silly story,
Decomposing.
A tourist on holiday in Vienna is passing a
graveyard when all of a sudden he hears music playing. He looks around to see
where it’s coming from but can see no one, he can still hear the music playing
and being a curious sort he begins to search the graveyard. Finally he locates the origin, it’s coming
from a grave with a headstone that reads Ludwig Van Beethoven, it is then that
he realises that the music he can hear is Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, but it’s
being played backwards.
The tourist cannot understand what’s going on so he
goes in search of the Church warden. Upon finding him he explains what he has
heard and asks the warden to return to the graveyard with him. However, when
they arrive at the grave the music has changed and now Beethoven’s Seventh
Symphony is being played, but just like the previous piece it too is being
played backwards. Now completely puzzled the Church warden decides to consult a
music teacher.
When they return to the grave with the music teacher
the Fifth Symphony is now playing, once again it’s being played backwards. After listening to both the warden and the
tourist the music teacher notices that all the symphonies are being played in
reverse order. However, the teacher, the
warden nor the tourist can explain it.
The following day news of the strange music being
played in the graveyard has spread throughout the community and a large crowd
has gathered around Beethoven’s grave. They are listening to the Second
Symphony being played backwards. Just then the graveyards old caretaker slowly
walks pass and one of the group asks him if he has any explanations for what’s
going on.
“Oh it’s nothing to worry about” says the caretaker,
“He’s just decomposing.
